1. Britain started taxing the thirteen colonies to pay off the Seven years war. During the Seven Years War(1756-1763), the British sent soldiers over to America to protect the 13 colonies. After the war when some of the soldiers returned, Britain demanded taxes from the 13 colonies. The taxes led to protests and revolts which further led to the American Revolutionary War.
2. In 1765,the stamp act was formed where basically any Colonist's who were importing or exporting anything they had to pay a fee. The stamp act was repealed in 1766 because it wasn't working
3. In 1767 a tax on the importation of paper, paint, glass, and tea was made all were repealed except tea
